How to Arrange a Bouquet of Flowers

One can express their creativity through arranging a collection of flowers into a beautiful bouquet. There are several occasions where bouquets are essential. Weddings, Birthdays and Anniversaries are the perfect place to display a gorgeous bouquet. You don't have to be a floral designer to make bouquets; homemade ones are often the most treasured. Here are steps on how to make your own bouquet.

Decide on the occasion. If the arrangement is for a party with a certain theme, plan accordingly. Choose flowers that are in the same hue of the motif or color scheme of the event. Typically, the main flowers of the arrangement have the brighter color and are accented with smaller flowers that have lighter shades

Select colors carefully. In picking the flowers to be added to the arrangement, a slight contrast or difference in color should be kept in mind. Avoid making the bouquet seem like a huge bundle of the same flower by using flowers with different colors. Flowers should still be the same hue

Cut the flowers according to the height and size you want for the bouquet. Decide on the amount of flowers you want to include in the arrangement, and picture the bouquet in advance. You may want to cut the flowers shorter for a petite bouquet, while a cascading bouquet may command longer stems.

Let your creativity go wild. Flowers can be placed in any way in a circular theme. The end arrangement of the bouquet depends on the type and number of flowers you have. The main flowers of the bouquet--which are generally the ones with the bigger petals--should be placed in the vase first. and then slowly add the rest by size. Smaller flowers are added in the bouquet among the interspersed main ones to avoid the bouquet looking too heavy on one side.

Slowly add the rest of the flowers by size. Make sure to place smaller flowers throughout the entire bouquet.

Step back, and look at the arrangement. Change the positions of some stems as you see fit.
